Deep Cleaning vs. Regular Cleaning: What’s the Difference?

The main difference: a regular cleaning maintains a home that’s already reasonably clean. A deep clean tackles the buildup that regular cleaning doesn’t reach — inside appliances, grout lines, baseboards, behind furniture. Regular cleaning keeps things tidy week to week. Deep cleaning resets the home.

Here’s how to tell which one you need, and what each actually includes.

What’s Included in a Regular Cleaning

A standard cleaning visit covers the surfaces and areas that need attention every week or two:

  • Bedrooms: dusting, vacuuming, making beds
  • Bathrooms: toilet, sink, tub/shower, mirrors, floors
  • Kitchen: counters, stovetop, sink, cabinet fronts, exterior of appliances
  • Living areas: dusting, vacuuming or mopping
  • Hallways and stairs

It does not include inside the oven, inside the fridge, grout scrubbing, baseboards, window tracks, or behind appliances. Those are deep clean tasks.

What’s Included in a Deep Clean

A deep clean covers everything in a regular clean plus the areas that accumulate grime slowly and don’t get touched in routine maintenance:

  • Inside the oven and microwave
  • Inside the fridge (shelves, drawers, door seals)
  • Grout lines in bathrooms and kitchen
  • Baseboards and door frames
  • Light fixtures and ceiling fans
  • Window sills and tracks
  • Behind and under appliances
  • Cabinet interiors

The goal is to get the home back to a baseline — the kind of clean you’d want before starting a recurring service, moving into a new place, or handing over a property.

Price Difference

At No More Chores, regular cleaning is flat-rate by bedrooms and bathrooms. A deep clean adds $100 to the regular rate for your home.

When to Book Each One

Book a deep clean if:

  • It’s your first time using a professional cleaning service
  • The home hasn’t been professionally cleaned in 3+ months
  • You’re moving in or moving out
  • You’re preparing a home for sale or a short-term rental turnover
  • Grout, baseboards, or appliances have visible buildup

Book a regular clean if:

  • The home is already in reasonable shape
  • You’re maintaining an existing cleaning schedule
  • You want a recurring service (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly)

If you’re not sure which applies, err toward the deep clean. Starting a recurring service on a properly reset home means each visit stays quicker and more affordable over time.

Our Recommendation for First-Time Clients

At No More Chores, we recommend starting with a deep clean before moving to a regular recurring schedule. This gives our team a proper baseline to maintain — and gives you a noticeably better result from the very first visit.

It’s a one-time step up in cost that pays off every clean after it.

Book a Deep Clean — or start with a regular clean if your home is already well-maintained.

What About Move-In and Move-Out Cleaning?

A move-in or move-out clean is a level above a deep clean. It assumes the home is empty and covers every interior surface — inside all cabinets, all appliances, every closet. If you’re handing over a property or taking possession of one, that’s the service to book.
